Toile vs Floral Wallpaper: What's the Difference?
Toile: Toile de Jouy took its name from the French village where printed cottons with pastoral scenes were produced in the 1700s. Floral: Florals are the most enduring wallpaper genre of all, moving from cottage chintz to bold, graphic blooms. In practice: Because toile is monochrome, it is easy to live with in bedrooms and kitchens and works on all four walls. Ditsy florals read almost as a texture from across the room – perfect for small spaces; oversized blooms make a confident feature wall. Our range has 154 toile and 183 floral designs.

About toile
Toile de Jouy took its name from the French village where printed cottons with pastoral scenes were produced in the 1700s. Single-colour vignettes give rooms a gentle, storybook rhythm. Because toile is monochrome, it is easy to live with in bedrooms and kitchens and works on all four walls.
About floral
Florals are the most enduring wallpaper genre of all, moving from cottage chintz to bold, graphic blooms. A good floral softens hard architecture and adds warmth instantly. Ditsy florals read almost as a texture from across the room – perfect for small spaces; oversized blooms make a confident feature wall.
