Blue Toile Wallpaper for Dining Rooms
Toile de Jouy took its name from the French village where printed cottons with pastoral scenes were produced in the 1700s. Single-colour vignettes give rooms a gentle, storybook rhythm.
Dining rooms come alive by lamplight, which is why rich, dark or highly decorative wallpapers excel here. Consider papering all four walls for an enveloping, intimate mood.
Blue is calm, trustworthy and endlessly versatile, from airy duck egg to inky indigo.
Our edit of 20 original designs includes country scene, estate toile, folly toile, garden toile, orchard toile, pastoral toile and more. Highlights from the edit include Yardley Garden Toile, Hanbury Orchard Toile, Basil Pastoral Toile.

Styling tips
- Match the toile ink colour to a stripe or check on cushions and curtains – the classic 'toile and ticking' pairing never fails.
- Pale blues open up north-facing rooms when paired with warm whites; deep blues cocoon.
- Dark grounds hide marks and make candlelight glow.
- Because toile is monochrome, it is easy to live with in bedrooms and kitchens and works on all four walls.
How much will I need?
A typical dining room wall of about 4.0 m wide × 2.4 m high needs 8 drops. With a 53 cm pattern repeat you get 3 drops per 10 m roll, so you would order 3 rolls – from £132.60 on Standard paper to £217.62 on Luxe. Use the calculator on any product page for your exact walls.
Make it your own
