Dark & Moody Abstract Wallpaper
Abstract wallpaper brings the energy of contemporary art to a whole wall – brushstrokes, organic shapes and painterly washes.
Dark and moody wallpaper makes rooms feel cocooning and dramatic, and paradoxically can make small rooms feel larger as the corners recede.
Our edit of 16 original designs includes brushstroke, line & dot, organic shapes, watercolour wash. Highlights from the edit include Baxter Watercolour Wash, Tamsin Line & Dot, Tudor Brushstroke.

Styling tips
- Let a single colour in the abstract guide your art, cushions and ceramics.
- Use warm lamps rather than overhead light to make dark walls glow.
- A wonderful way to add personality to modern living rooms and studies.
How much will I need?
A typical living room wall of about 4.2 m wide × 2.4 m high needs 9 drops. With a 53 cm pattern repeat you get 3 drops per 10 m roll, so you would order 3 rolls – from £132.60 on Standard paper to £217.62 on Luxe. Use the calculator on any product page for your exact walls.
Make it your own
Every design in this edit can be recoloured, rescaled and previewed on a photo of your own wall in Design Your Own, then printed made-to-measure.
Frequently asked questions
What goes with dark & moody abstract wallpaper?
Let a single colour in the abstract guide your art, cushions and ceramics. Use warm lamps rather than overhead light to make dark walls glow.
Are your designs original?
Yes. Every pattern is an original Wallpaper Kingdom artwork created in-house; we do not reproduce other designers' work.
How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
Measure the width of each wall and the height from skirting to ceiling. Our rolls are 52 cm wide and 10 m long. Use the roll calculator on every product page – it accounts for the pattern repeat and recommends one spare roll.
Can I see the wallpaper on my own wall before buying?
Yes. In Design Your Own, take or upload a photo of your wall, drag the four corners into place and we will render the pattern onto your wall in perspective.
