Dark & Moody Wallpaper for Living Rooms
The living room is where most people start with wallpaper. A feature wall behind the sofa or across the chimney breast gives an instant focal point without overwhelming the space.
Dark and moody wallpaper makes rooms feel cocooning and dramatic, and paradoxically can make small rooms feel larger as the corners recede.
Our edit of 326 original designs includes arch, atomic star, banana leaf, baroque damask, blooms, blossom branch and more. Highlights from the edit include Trerice Willow Court, Magnolia Leaf Sprig, Everly Triangle.

Styling tips
- Use warm lamps rather than overhead light to make dark walls glow.
- Measure each wall separately and include alcoves; our calculator adds the pattern repeat for you.
How much will I need?
A typical living room wall of about 4.2 m wide × 2.4 m high needs 9 drops. With a 53 cm pattern repeat you get 3 drops per 10 m roll, so you would order 3 rolls – from £132.60 on Standard paper to £217.62 on Luxe. Use the calculator on any product page for your exact walls.
Make it your own
Every design in this edit can be recoloured, rescaled and previewed on a photo of your own wall in Design Your Own, then printed made-to-measure.
Frequently asked questions
Will dark & moody wallpaper work in my living room?
Use warm lamps rather than overhead light to make dark walls glow. Measure each wall separately and include alcoves; our calculator adds the pattern repeat for you.
Can I see the wallpaper on my own wall before buying?
Yes. In Design Your Own, take or upload a photo of your wall, drag the four corners into place and we will render the pattern onto your wall in perspective.
Can I order a sample first?
Yes. Every design is available as a free A4 sample so you can check colour and scale in your own light before you order.
Which paper should I choose for a bathroom or kitchen?
Choose Premium (scrubbable) or Luxe and make sure the room is well ventilated. Avoid areas of direct water contact such as inside showers.
